Another show is over for another year - and what a show it was, possibly one of our best yet.
There are so many people to thank, Derek Hill our marvellous director supported by his wife, the wonderful Christine. Bill Shepherd and his family and friends for sterling work in set construction and all kinds of stage-handery. Roger Maisey for heading up front-of-house and ticket sales. Simon Maslin and Corrie Lynch for light and sound. Speaking of lights many thanks also to Richard Abrams for our light design AND for his kind, encouraging, patience as our Music Director. Hearty thank-yous also to the wonderful orchestra he assembled and to Ann Bladon, our accompanist. Many thanks to our chorus and soloists (old, new, and returning to the society) who made a 147-year old story come alive for a 21st Century audience. Thanks also to all the members of the Swindon Gilbert and Sullivan society committee for their support which includes, publicity, programmes, and posters. Not forgetting the staff of The Arts Centre - which later became the staff of The Wyvern Theatre (but that's another story).
As I said, so many people to thank, I'm sorry if I've forgotten anyone and beg your forgiveness.
But one group of people we can't forget to thank is YOU our AUDIENCE. Thank you for coming and nearly selling out every performance. We hope you had a wonderful time and take a little of the happiness of this show into your lives.
And so, as King Luiz and Queen Casilda settle down to rule long and wisely, and as Marco, Gianetta, Guiseppie, and Tessa return to Venice to fleece the tourists, we wish you all well and look forward to seeing you in 2015 for THE MIKADO.
