WS Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan lit up the Victorian stage with their unique combination of delightful music, sharp satire, and good taste. Many of their lyrics and tunes are still referred to today: from "The Policeman's Lot Is Not A Happy One" of the Prirates of Penzance to the not-quite-Japanese silliness that is the Mikado.Swindon G&S society, formed in the late 60s, has recently decided to go on a local tour with selections from the shows in which we can showcase Sullivan's fine music and Gilbert's timeless (and wicked) humour. We will also have a preview of songs from our forthcoming full production of "Iolanthe". We welcome you all to the Memorial Hall on December 2nd at 7.30pm, and since it's the start of the Christmas season we'll include a few carols for all to sing.
